Surf City has its own elementary school, a middle school, and one K-8 school. The Surf City Elementary School and Surf City Middle School were recently constructed, opening to the public in 2018 after two years of hard work. These schools share a building with the elementary and middle school wings adjoined through a corridor measuring 730 feet. Because it is such a small city, Surf City does not have its own high school. Students who are old enough for high school will need to attend one of the schools in nearby cities, such as Topsail High School or Dixon High School.
